TEXT 1 peter 5:5-6

[6]Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Pride is self exaltation.

It is lifting oneself above all, including above God.

It was pride that got Lucifer into trouble and had him demoted to Satan.

In Isaiah 14:12-15 the scripture said, 

"12. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

13. For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

14. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

15. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit."

If you want to predict your future accurately, just check if you are operating in pride.

Beloved, Jesus is our perfect example and His is the General overseer of all the churches.

What was it that made Him place a very high premium on humility?

Today many Christians get really confused when they look at Jesus and the church leaders of today.

In my country, many move with tens of fully armed fiercely looking security men.

Many wonder why they need these men.

Many live like Hollywood superstars, rudely flaunting their wealth in social media.

Jesus knelt down and washed the very dirty feet of the disciples.

They had no shoes but sandals with which they worked the dusty roads of Jerusalem.

It was not an easy wash, but the Master of the universe washed them.

God resists the proud and lifts up the humble.

[13]For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not.

[14]And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever.

Dearly beloved, Samuel heard from God what would have made most men become not just proud but arrogant.

He knew from God that the man who he was serving was finished and that the mantle had fallen on him yet he kept serving.

I have had a personal assistant who in his attempt to become more important told church members that he was the one who wrote my sermons.

Imagine if God had anointed such a fellow?

He would have destroyed both himself and others.

God is very wise.

Humility exalts.

It's your time to be lifted by the power of humility in Jesus mighty name.

[6]Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained,

[7]But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being.

Beloved, Jesus was God.

He was part of the Trinity.

They are three that we recognize as our God in Christianity.

God the father, God the son and God the Holy spirit.

We see them as equal in our faith.

Jesus stripped himself of all privileges and rightful dignity, became just like a servant so He could achieve the mission of salvaging mankind.

If humility can lead Christ to placing a value to even the most wretched of our humanity, if Christ died for the worst of us, then I should be proud to serve the weakest of us.

[45]That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

[46]For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

The love commandment is a very tough one.

No one can fulfill it in the flesh.

When the Holy spirit comes into our life, it starts to sieve us like women sieve wheat.

This process is continued until every flesh in us is consumed by the refining fire of the Holy ghost.

When this happens, selfishness gives way to selflessness.

HATRED IS SATANIC. 

It is a major instrument of Satan for pulling down believers.

Genuinely loving others is proof of the presence of the Holy Spirit within us. 

Living in hatred towards others is proof of demonic influence upon the heart. 

Justifying your hatred proves you have totally surrendered to Satan. 

Proverbs  10:12  "Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins".

The choice is yours.

There was only one power at work in the last days of Jesus' life on earth.

It was not Pilate's power, nor the power of the religious leaders -it was the power of His love for the lost.

This power kept him silent and drove Him to the cross.

Many powers worked against Jesus in the last days of His life.

At Gethsemane He went through an internal struggle, praying that the cup will pass away if it was possible.

The intense pressure to shun pain is human, it's also natural but the power of love 💕 prevailed.

In what way are you inconvenienced for others be happier?

What have you endured to make your area of influence a better place?

[5]It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].

[6]It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.

[7]Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].

[8]Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].

In this season of love, we will be looking at different types of love, but our focus would be on agape.

Agape is God's kind of love.

The Bible verses stated above described best what God's kind of love 💕 looks like.

Samson demonstrated the omnipotence of our God by the awesome slaughter of his enemies.

God can do all things for whosoever can release his faith upon the word of God.

The jawbone of an Ass became a weapon of mass destruction in his hand.

Those attempting to destroy you are jokers.

Psalm 2 described them very well.

It said that God will laugh as they rage.

Why would God laugh?

Because your safety is forever guaranteed.

He that watches over you neither sleeps nor slumbers.

He is a covenant keeping God.

One of the biggest wonders of God is that He does not forget.

He remembers  agreements.

In Genesis 15:13-14

God declared what the future holds unto Abraham.

"13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;

14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance."

[13]And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

[14]And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.

Joshua asked the Lord that the sun should stand still to give him day light until he was done with avenging his enemies.

This was not a new covenant believer.

He operated on a weaker covenant yet he could place such a demand on Jehovah.

What manner of mindset was Joshua carrying?

Why are we afraid to place such demands on our Daddy?

God responds to us according to our faith.

His wonderous side is demonstrated only when we place a demand.

I do not know the type of battle that is ragging over your destiny, but believers are not strangers to warfare.

At Gibeon, the Lord overthrew their enemies by Himself.

He released heavy slabs of stones from Heaven and killed more of the Confederate than were slaughtered by Israel.

Your God still fights in unusual ways.

He is the God of wonder, am sorry for your enemies.

The truth is that no one is strong enough to rise up against God.

It is those who rise up against you that become God's enemies.

Psalms 68 v1 Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.

 Whoever becomes your enemy has qualified himself to become God's enemy.

Whoever becomes God's enemy is on an auto- pilot to scatter.

The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.

Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters.

Beloved, there is nothing pursuing after you that your God is not fully able to deal with.

Your Daddy is equal to the task.

Pharaoh and his entire army were buried in the sea, your enemies are taking very dangerous risk.

26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.

27 And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.

28 Intreat the LORD (for it is enough) that there be no more mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer.

Dearly beloved, we are going through turbulent  times.

The earth is troubled and highly challenged.

People are facing real crises but there is always a hiding place.

Noah's ark was a hiding place for God's people.

He preserved all that were in the ark.

Goshen was a place of preservation for God's people who were trapped in Egypt.

Does God have a preservation plan for His own people today?

Yes, Jesus is the Ark of the righteous.

When the world shall say there is a casting down, those in the Ark shall only see a lifting.

Stop thinking of suicide, you serve a responsible God, He is the head of our family.

He has already made a way for you.

I call Him, my God of wonder.

TOPIC :   MY GOD OF WONDER

TEXT  ISAIAH 48:21

[21]And they thirsted not when He led them through the deserts; He caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them; He split the rock also, and the waters gushed out.

Our God is a rock splitter.

He cracked the rock, so that their thirst would be quenched. 

This God of wonder will crack any situation no matter how tough to ensure that we are free from all yokes.

Wipe your tears, you serve a responsible and compassionate father.

You are coming out of that situation in Jesus mighty name, Amen.

God bless you.

With the God I serve, nothing shall be impossible.

Your case is not bigger than God.
