TEXT JOSHUA 10: 11-14

TOPIC : ENFORCING YOUR FAITH THROUGH RIGHTEOUSNESS

[11]And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.

[12]Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

[13]And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

[14]And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.

Gibeon had made alliance with Israel and this angered Adonizedek who gathered all the kings of the Amonites against Gibeon.

Gibeon who had made peace with Israel cried unto Joshua for help.

"And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us."(Joshua 10:6).

Joshua and his men, helped by God, made a massive slaughter of the Amorites.

While this was going on, evening was approaching with speed as usual.

Joshua then commanded in the sight of the children of Israel, sun stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou moon, in the valley of Ajalon, and the sun and the moon obeyed.

What kind of requests do you present to this almighty God?

Truly if I hadn't read the scripture, and I was in Joshua's shoes, I would have carried my people home with heavy songs of victory.

But you see, our God is limitless, He only grants according to our requests.

It shall be done to you according to your faith.

Why not begin to ask Him for great things.

Begin to make mind buggling requests.

Beloved, ask Him because He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,(Ephesians 3:20).

I see God breaking forth for you in Jesus mighty name.

TOPIC : ENFORCING YOUR FAITH THROUGH RIGHTEOUSNESS

4 And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.

5 And Moses said unto the judges of Israel, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baalpeor.

6 And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

7 And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand;

8 And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.

The camp of the Lord was losing their battles because sin was in the camp.

Even though they had Jehovah the warrior God as their God, they were still losing to their enemies. A plague of death was destroying them.

The early church was saved from this same calamity when the duo of Ananias and Sapphira was liquidated by the power of the Holy spirit for fraud.

The bible said that great fear came upon the church.

By the reason of this incident, the people realized that Jesus did not remain in the grave, He was truly alive.

It is an act of righteousness to stand up for what is right.

As a child of God, do not watch things go bad. Do something about it while you can.

 When a building collapses, everyone inside is affected. 

The bible recorded that Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, took a javelin in his hand and thrusted it through the adulterous duo and ended the plague from the children of Israel.

Hear what God said in Numbers 25: 11-13,

"11 Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.

12 Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace:

13 And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel."

Beloved, it is my prayer that Heaven will declare similar promises for you and your posterity in Jesus mighty name.

TEXT 2 TIMOTHY 2:16-19

TOPIC : ENFORCING YOUR FAITH THROUGH RIGHTEOUSNESS

16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;

18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

One of the major characteristics of our God is that He does not change.

From generation to generation, He has remained the same.

God's standards also do not change, they remain the same.

The reason we can predict the moves of our God is because He has laid down laws that govern His creations that has remained constant and can be trusted.

These same laws also govern the affairs of Heaven, they are righteous and just.

The prophet/psalmist declares with confidence in Psalms 37:25 "I have been young, and now i am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread."

Listen to him carefully, he said, I have not seen the righteous, not the believer forsaken.

Who are the righteous?

Those who have right standing with God.

Remember that His standard has remained the same.

He has not changed because we live in a super Sonic era.

The standards of righteousness in the days of Enoch is the same today, it has not change.

The repulsiveness of God towards  David's offensive sin of adultery with Bathsheba and finally  his murder of Uriah has not changed because of modernity.

Beloved, be careful what you listen to and what you watch.

Put a strong watch over the gates of your life so that your standards will not be lowered at any time.

God expects us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling.

TEXT ISAIAH 54:14-17

TOPIC : ENFORCING YOUR FAITH THROUGH RIGHTEOUSNESS 

14 In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.

15 Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.

16 Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.

17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

Trying to enforce the promises of God while living in sin is a big deception from Satan.

We often quote Isaiah 54 v 17, "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper;"

I have often seen people confess this scripture and other similar scriptures until they are totally defeated.

This was a serious source of worry and I  was troubled each time my mind crept to these painful defeats.

I kept asking the Holy spirit to unravel this mystery to me.

One day, the Lord led me to understand that  most believers are running around with very beautiful promises without looking at the caveats.

Every bible promise has its conditions.

These promises are only guaranteed when the conditions are fully met.

In verse 14 of Isaiah 54, the scripture declares "In righteousness shall thou be established: thou shall be far from oppression; for thou shall not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee."

The condition for this promise is that those who are confessing them must make daily effort to live like the kids of a righteous God.

If men are not sure of whose you are, the spirits definitely will not take you seriously because they see even in the dark.

The juju priests are so confident of who they serve that whenever you see them, you are never in doubt who they represent.

Beloved, do you know that there are believers who you would be in the same office with for years without knowing that they are Christians.

They have thoroughly been cilivilized by the world. 

Beloved do not be deceived, our righteous God will never commit His most precious gift, 'power' into the hand of an unserious and reckless vessel.

32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

These were men whose lives were used to prove that we serve a living God.

These men donated their lives for experiments that proved that our God is able and capable to do deliver whatever He promised.

Some young men quenched the violence of fire, Daniel stopped the mouths of lions.

He was already in the lion's den before his deliverance came.

Beloved, can you dare to trust God. God is able to deliver you from the most perilous voyage.

As you enter into this new week, put your faith on God and I can guarantee that you will end up well.

TEXT MARK 16:1-5

TOPIC : FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH

1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?

4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.

5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.

Beloved, realize that this was just three days after Jesus was executed like a public enemy.

The whole community was tense and threatening.

It was a very dangerous time to identify with Jesus.

It was at a time like this that these courageous women opened their treasure bags and purchased those expensive ointments to anoint the Lord's body with.

This operation was being carried at the risk of their lives.

One amazing reality here was that they still honoured Jesus even when they were not expecting a Resurrection.

In Ruth 1: 16-17, Ruth said, 

" And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me."

She was strong in faith, firm in her resolve not to flounder in what she believed in.

Beloved, refuse to be discouraged by any situation around you.

Always remember that your God is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and are safe.

[43]Joseph, he of Arimathea, noble and honorable in rank and a respected member of the council (Sanhedrin), who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, daring the consequences, took courage and ventured to go to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

[44]But Pilate wondered whether He was dead so soon, and, having called the centurion, he asked him whether [Jesus] was already dead.

[45]And when he learned from the centurion [that He was indeed dead], he gave the body to Joseph.

[46]And Joseph bought a [fine] linen cloth [for swathing dead bodies], and, taking Him down from the cross, he rolled Him up in the [fine] linen cloth and placed Him in a tomb which had been hewn out of a rock. Then he rolled a [very large] stone against the door of the tomb.

Joseph of Arimathea according to the Bible took a major risk, daring the consequences by requesting the body of   Christ.

This man by his courage preserved the "Body of Christ".

What are the consequences?

1. Anyone who identified with Jesus risked treason.

2. Identification with the doctrine of Christ  had a death sentence attached to it.

3. Identifying with Christ's doctrine would leads to being immediately  ostracized the society.

Joseph risked all these to preserve the "Body of Christ" and was used by the Holy Spirit to fulfill the prophesy of David that the Lord's body will not see corruption.

Today in our country, we have a ragging issue which is waiting for the voices of the patriarchs of our faith to be heard.

Will your voice be heard at this very demanding time or will you choose to preserve your privileges?

Time is running out.

It is seeing the end from the beginning through the word of God. It is seeing beyond where you are to where you are going.

Faith is absolute confidence in the faithfulness of God as a result of your deep knowledge of the character of God.

It is judging Him faithful who has promised (Heb.11:11).

Faith is coming into agreement with God on any issue that is backed by His word.

What are those things that God is breathing into your spirit, begin to trust God and speedily begin to execute them.

25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

Beloved, we live in trying times.

Identity is a major issue today.

Where do you stand?

Moses refused to be called the son of pharaoh's daughter even when it was a sure way to prosperity.

We live in a world where sacrifice is alien to most people.

How far would you be ready to go with God.

What manner of pleasures are you willing to give up for the spirit of God to have His way in your life.

The road to the cross is also the road to glory.

If you want the glory, start with the fleshly and cannal denials.

TEXT HEBREWS 11:17-19

TOPIC : FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH

17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,

18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:

19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.

Faith in God is knowing and trusting like Abraham that God is able to fulfill His promises.

If it would take resurrection to fulfill what He promised, He would do it.

It is your ability to clearly see the future through God's own binoculars, illuminating from a distance, therefore becoming fearless.

Between January 30 1933 - May 8 1945 about six million Jews were haunted,  hounded and killed.

Six million in a space of just three years.

Prior to this time, it looked impossible that such in a supposedly civilized society, but it did.

It happened because those who should talk kept quiet.

They wanted to preserve their worldly goods and acquisitions by being politically correct and before you could bat an eyelid, six million innocent Jews  were profiled and killed.

These men, including the great church leaders ended up as accomplices and collaborators.

They did not speak when they ought to.

The blood of those men will be required of them.

A priest Martin Luther King Jr started a rights movements in the United States of America in the 1950s.

He questioned the segregation of the blacks at the risk of his life and was killed by an assasins' bullet in 1968.

Those who handed over this faith to us, celebrated death days more than birthdays because it mattered more what manner of death we died.

Did our death glorify the Lord.

Martin Luther king Jr. was killed at 39 years, but his short life is why some of our political and religious leaders can send their children to US today to become citizens. He would have been 94 today, a 94 year unhappy and unfulfilled old man.

If you are truly a leader sent by the God of the Jews then it's not too late to speak out.

This is the time

 to exercise our faith in God by speaking out, knowing fully well that all lives matter.

TEXT HEBREWS 11:5-6

TOPIC : FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH

5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: .....

Beloved, I once asked the Holy spirit what Enoch did that earned him this manner of translation.

The Holy spirit said, can't you see that he pleased God.

So what did he do to please God?

Little children are constantly seeking for what one did but as we get older, we will start knowing that what one did not do might actually matter more to the spirits.

Enoch did not take part in iniquity.

He did not lie, he did not steal, he did not commit adultery, he did not join hand with the wicked.

He did not cover sin in order to be politically correct.

He was not an empire builder.

Last Sunday one of the elders in our church did not come to church.

He was disappointed at the rape on democracy that happened the day before. 

He expected that the fathers of faith in our country would rise up  in condemnation of this disaster, but no one spoke.

Those who do not speak against evil end up looking like collaborators and cowards.

To fight the good fight of faith is to risk our gains and comfort in order to please God.

TEXT HEBREWS 11:4

TOPIC : FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH

4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

Beloved, there are statements that I see  in the bible, and my attention is sharply drawn.

The scripture was describing a man's sacrifice, and declared that the one who made the sacrifice even though he is dead but yet he is still speaking.

I asked the Holy spirit why?

His answer was that Abel's sacrifice was more excellent than his brothers' own.

Could it be that God takes notice of our offerings?

Yes He does.

In Mark 12: 41-43 , the bible recorded that Jesus was in the temple.

41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.

42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

I was truly surprised that my Lord was deliberate about knowing what each person gave.

The reason is that your giving is directly tied to your faith.

A non giver can never be a man of great faith because it takes faith to let go anything big.

It takes great faith to give God your life and your all.

May God help you fight the good fight of faith in Jesus mighty name.

TEXT EPHESIANS 5:14-17

TOPIC : FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT FAITH

14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

No one who is involved in a fight can afford to sleep while the battle rages on.

Sleep is a mark of total oblivion of the reality of the environmental conditions.

We are in a war, therefore we must work with rules.

You cannot live recklessly and expect to survive in a war.

We must refuse to be careless with our lives.

We are soldiers and cannot afford to live like civilians.

We will live in the world, but not like the world.

Fighting the good fight of faith is among other things living our lives according to the dictates of the word.

If we are to win, we must on daily basis keep looking more like Jesus.

If we become like the world, our life will become so devalued that we can never qualify to become witnesses for our Lord Jesus.

He called us to be as lights that are set up on the hills that cannot be hidden.

Beloved, is your light illuminating your surrounding?

TEXT 1 JOHN 5:4

TOPIC : FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT FAITH

4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Beloved, it is called the good fight of faith because it is a fight that you are destined to win.

The outcome is already determined in your favour.

Whatever is born of God overcomes the world.

Whatever is born of God refers to humans and ideas that are the products of divine incubation.

These are sometimes dreams of God that men got divinity to commit to their care by their relentless prayer, selfless living and endless giving.

When finally God opens up to His heart a man, the anger of all the forces in the planet cannot stop it.

Beloved, delays are not denials.

Do not give up, remember that if that door leads to your great destiny, brace up for the many adversaries.

One thing is certain, your victory was won before the battle began.

TEXT 1 TIMOTHY 6:12

TOPIC : FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH?

 Fight the good fight of faith 

Every believer is in a war.

You need to fight because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith - 1 Peter 5:8-9.

The devil is ceaselessly fighting to ensure that you fail in this life.

He fights viciously to ensure that you end us as a big disappointment to everyone who ever believed that you would succeed. 

Therefore you are instructed to defend yourself against all his his attacks. 

 PREVENT HIM

Neither give place to the devil - Ephesians 4:27. Tell the devil that because God has spoken a particular word or promise in your favour, you'll not experience the opposite from him.

 DEFEND YOURSELF

1. Resist him with your faith.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you - James 4:7.

2. Cast him out.

In my name shall they cast out devils - Mark 16:17.,

You need to quote the scriptures like Jesus did because the Holy Spirit needs the word to fight for  you.

 And take ... the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God - Ephesians 6:17.

Belove, never forget that faith is both a weapon for battle and a key for access. It works both ways.

TEXT GENESIS 39: 4

TOPIC : CAN YOU SERVE IN A SMALL CAPACITY?

4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

Dearly beloved, Joseph was transported to Egypt by the vehicle of his brothers' hatred and envy.

  Opposition in his father's house became the fare Joseph paid to get to  Egypt and he ended up in portiphar's house as a slave.

Joseph's faithfulness provoked Portiphar to make him the chief steward over all that he had.

 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand - Genesis 39:4.

Here again, Joseph had to defend his intergrity . This time, what opposed him was not hatred. It was lust from Portiphar's wife. 

It was a battle against his consentration.

Sometimes, in your  stewardship, there comes the temptation to condone sin. In Joseph's case, the temptation was Portiphar's wife longing for sex with him. 

Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers .... shall inherit the kingdom of God - 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. 

Adultery is having sex with another person's wife or husband.

In our stewardship, when we are faced with the temptation to condone evil and gain favour with man, we must declare like  apostle Peter: We ought to obey God rather than men - Acts 5:29.

Beloved, realize that you are stronger with God than with men.
