LOVE IS PROVABLE

TEXT ROMANS 1 16-21

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Apostle Paul studied under the great  Gamaliel.

He was so prolific that he was no doubt headed for the very top in his days.

When Paul met Christ, he dumped all his honours and scholarship at the feet of the Lord.

Philippians 3 verse 8,

Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,"

Many treat the matter of paying the cost of the gospel as an unserious matter, yet it is the most serious issue of our eternity.

Many are even ashamed to identify themselves as Christians in the public.

They come to church on Sunday, but they deny the master in their offices on Monday.

They speak in tongues on Sunday, but declare on Monday that "we run a secular business". Secular means godless.

The Lord said, He will deny them on the last day. He will command them to depart from Him because they were workers of iniquity on the earth.

Because when they knew God, they refused to honor Him, their hearts became darkened and they became vain in their imaginations.

Apostle Paul refused to be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for by revelation he understood and declared that the gospel is God's power unto salvation.

What are you doing for Jesus?

Are you a bench warmer?

It is only those sacrifices done for the Master that has eternal value.

 LOVE IS PROVABLE.

TEXT  1 KINGS 3:4-5

[3]Solomon loved the Lord, walking [at first] in the statutes and practices of David his father, only he sacrificed and burned incense in the high places.

[4]The king went to Gibeon [near Jerusalem, where stood the tabernacle and the bronze altar] to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place. One thousand burnt offerings Solomon offered on that altar.

Any love that cannot pass the test of giving is fake.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son.

What is the cost to your claim of love?

Is your own only a lip service love?

If it cost you nothing, it will yield you nothing.

Solomon loved the Lord and he sacrificed a thousand burnt offerings and before dawn, God appeared.

Our love to our wife, children, siblings and neighbours must be provable for it to be real love.

TOPIC : ITS TIME FOR A NEW BEGINNING

 LOVE IS A CHOICE.

TEXT  LUKE 10:2 

2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

Beloved, every church is populated not by labourers and harvesters but more by members.

When I was young in ministry, I thought that members were part of the church. I did not know that they were visitors.

They were there as long as everything is fine.

They are not there when the fire of challenges and affliction arises.

It is love that drives the labourers but many other things drive the members.

Some are driven by identity with a big brand, some are in search of employment, some marriage while others social alliances that are far from anything altruistic.

The spirit cried out in that verse of scripture that the harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few.

Are you a labourers?

God doesn't have many of them, so when He finds one, He secures and protects them by the powers of Heaven.

He also secures a prosperity both for them and their posterity.

Would you love to be a labourers?

Ask God for hunger, He will give you.

 LOVE IS A CHOICE.

TEXT JOHN 10 :17-18

17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

Dearly beloved, love is a choice. It is initially    a conscious decision but when practiced over a long period of time, it becomes a lifestyle.

This kind of love is called God's kind of love.

This kind of love is not self-serving or self-seeking. This is the kind of love that lays down all for the good of another.

It is called agape.

We can never conquer self by focusing on self. The only way to overcome self is to become selfless.

Whenever God delivers anyone from the kingdom of darkness to that of light, the Holy spirit begins a process of delivering the person from selfishness, to selflessness.

If the person permits Him to achieve this in his life, he becomes a city that is set upon the hills that cannot be hid.

God sees each one of us as a city but it is only those who can overcome self that will be appointed cities to rule in the world to come.

When your life become overwhelmed with God's love, you would emit love unconsciously and you will become a blessing to your world.

THE FORCE OF LOVE .

TEXT ISAIAH 53:7-8 

[7]He was oppressed, [yet when] He was afflicted, He was submissive and opened not His mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth.

[8]By oppression and judgment He was taken away; and as for His generation, who among them considered that He was cut off out of the land of the living [stricken to His death] for the transgression of my [Isaiah's] people, to whom the stroke was due?

Love is all about sacrifice, it about giving, giving and not expecting anything in return.

We often give in expectation of something but in love the recipient may not even be in a position to reciprocate.

When you pay your child's school fees, you are happy that you were able to do it, you do not expect anything for what you have done. She may even be too small to be able to say thank you.

Such was our Lord's love for us, that He layed down His life for us.

He was not compelled , it was an expression of love.

It is called agape.

You are expected to go and do the same for the dying world.

Tell somebody about Jesus and save a soul.

THE FORCE OF LOVE .

TEXT 1 CORINTHIANS 13: 11-13

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

The Amplified version amplified verse 13 very clearly,

"And so faith, hope, love abide [faith–conviction and belief respecting man's relation to God and divine things; hope–joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation; love–true affection for God and man, growing out of God's love for and in us], these three; but the greatest of these is love."

Beloved, three of the greatest forces on earth are faith, hope and love, but the greatest of the three is love.

The reason is because all the other forces can only operate on the foundation of love.

Love is likened to the handle upon where the other forces hand.

No matter how beautiful your curtains are, it would remain on the floor if you do not have a curtain hanger.

Love is the ground upon where all other forces abound.

Begin to walk in love, and in no distant time, you will begin to see massive changes in your life.
