TOPIC : THE COST OF POWER.

[9]Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:

[10]For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

[11]Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.

Dearly beloved, those who are on the pursuit of their calling are usually on a lonely part.

They are often abandoned and forsaken by friends, loved ones and trusted allies.

I have not said this so you will develope self pity, no.

The seriousness of your calling will determine the type of people who will travel with  and camp around you.

The call to preach the gospel is not a call to comfort so it will be a lonely one in the beginning.

The dimension of Samson's calling, required that a razor was never to touch his hair. 

He was also not to touch alcohol or he will destroy the call of God upon his life.

Our callings are all like that.

God wants us to sanctify our bodies and be holy.

He does not desire but demands  consecrated men and women to appear before Him.

No one will fulfill God's calling if he refuses to separate himself from the world.

God desires solitude in order to impregnate your spirit with His vision for your generation.

Begin to learn how to be alone yet not lonely.

TEXT  LUKE 12:15-21

TOPIC : THE COST OF POWER.

[15]And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

[16]And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:

[17]And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

[18]And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

[19]And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

[20]But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

[21]So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

Beloved, many people live in this earth just to gratify their flesh.

They believe that our purpose on earth is enjoyment.

There is however no rest in this world outside God.

Any rest outside God is foolishness, you can ask the rich fool that Jesus told us about.

When you begin to understand truly who God is, you will suddenly discover that your greatest preoccupation while on earth should be to study God.

It is at points of encounters like this that you find men committing all things in order to know the Lord.

The tireless apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:8,

"Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,"

I sincerely pray for you , that your present  life will not be wasted in the pursuit of the pleasures of this world that is speedily passing away.

[1]The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

[2]And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

[3]And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

Many years ago, the emphasis of the church in my country was soul winning.

Then churches even came together to organize crusades.

Beloved, while growing up I remember with nostalgia the great crusades of men of God like T L Osborn and Renihard Bonnke.

There were the crusades of Reverend Uma Ukpai and pastor Chris.

The national stadia were usually filled with sinners who were desperate to meet with Jesus and make peace with their maker.

Today, the crusades are gone.

They have been replaced by camp meetings and empire buildings.

The only challenge is that the sinners prefer neural grounds like the stadium.

The muslem youth will not come to our church domes no matter how beautiful they are.

Our Lord Jesus had many crusades.

These crusades were not in the synagogues.

Why have we stopped such a good thing.

Satan is responsible for this.

He has deceived us that our glamorous  towers of babel would do the job better.

We are simply recycling believers and aggressively poaching from one church to another.

We give them mouth watering offers in order to port.

Churches are grown today using all manner of schemes including network marketing.

The crowd will come, the growth will occour, but there will be no power.

Power is the greatest commodity in the kingdom.

Pursue power at all costs, that is the true essence of our faith.

God bless you.

TEXT ACTS13:8-11

[8]But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

[9]Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,

[10]And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

[11]And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

Dearly beloved, an administrator in the country of Paphos Sergius Paulus, a prudent man had desired to hear the gospel from Paul and Barnabas. 

But there was a certain wizard who was using the art of manipulation against them in order to resist the gospel.

Apostle Paul immediately cursed him and he became blind.

The accuracy and precision of the judgemental rod of his mouth showed that it was not a guess work.

He became blind instantly.

Today, a spell cast by 14 year old witch will require the pastor of a church and his entire prayer team to travel to a village to destroy.

They will conduct several vigils before they can remove the spell, meanwhile a 14 year old witch put it.

The reason for this embarrassing powerlessness is the result of this Christianity that cost us nothing.

Pampered children are cheap targets for bullies, but let them try ruggedly raised children, they usually hit brick walls.

The church must design teaching programs that will educate our children on the spiritual deposits that are inside them.

It was the blessed Bishop Benson Idahosa that said that if an unsaved native doctor could prepare a charm with his bare hands without getting harmed, he would carry the same  charms with his bare hands and it will not harm him also

In the book of Luke 10:19, the bible said,

"Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you."

If you are willing to pay the price, you will ride on the head of your enemies.

TEXT LUKE 14:26-28

TOPIC : THE COST OF POWER.

It will cost you your time.

[26]If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

[27]And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

[28]For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

Beloved, there are many people who joined the church without counting the cost.

Today, being a born again Christian is the in thing.

It is now very fashionable to be a born again .

On Sunday mornings, the churches are filled with beautiful ladies with glowing bodies and very expensive hairs and nails who come from the brothels and young men who come straight from the night clubs.

These ones became born again without counting the costs of following Jesus.

They did not know that following Jesus was dying to the world  while carrying your cross.

Many of them saw the church as a place to find the type of husband that they have fantasized all their lives.

It's also a place where their consciences are massaged, while still living in sin, the leave the church every Sunday feeling like saints.

The problem here is that the pastor and his team have entered into a big problem.

With these ones there is no end to follow-up.

Today they are in church, tomorrow they are out, you keep following them up. 

Beloved, there is nothing wrong with the church, the problem is with men and women who  want to hide in the church as active sinners, refusing to repent. 

I have been told by some fathers in the faith that they will change.

Do they really change?

I have watched many in the years that I have been into ministry.

I have not seen any change.

Only a sinner with a sincere commitment to change, with contrite spirit can repent.

How come one alter call today can gather one thousand to the church, but the city cannot feel their effect?

How come just twelve men from Jesus's church affected the whole city but a church of a hundred thousand just creates an atmosphere for weekend celebration with a huge dancing hall.

We are replicating the world in the church because we do not want to invest our time in the work of God.

Beloved pastors stop weeping, they are not only escaping from church, they are escaping from their marriages, their schools, their businesses and every relationship that demand commitment.

These people did not count the cost.

Salvation that provides eternal life is what the Lord paid in full, when it comes to serving the Lord, there are costs to be paid by the believer.

It will surely cost you your time.
