TOPIC : UNDERSTANDING LOYALTY
(Special edition)
TEXT: GENESIS 26:1-6
God lays a threefold foundation for the loyalty of a protege, namely generational progression, visional continuity and doctrinal uniformity. Let's examine these one after the other.
GENERATIONAL PROGRESSION
the God of Isaac: the land whereon you lie, to you will I give it, and to your seed - Genesis 28:13.
When he revealed himself to Moses he said: I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God - Exodus 3:6.
When he revealed himself to Isaac, he didn't say I am your God. He said I am the God of your father Abraham. When he revealed himself to Jacob he didn't say I am your God but said I am the God of Abraham and Isaac. To Moses he said I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
God specifically told Isaac that he would bless him not because he obeyed him but because Abraham his father obeyed him. *Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you... Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws - Genesis 26:3,5.*
The import of this revelation is that God wants an underling to know that he is relating with him on the merit of his father. Without his his father, the underling has no God and that God has nothing to do with the underling.
Because God relates with us through our fathers or superiors Jesus says: without me you can do nothing - John 15:5. This means God has no regard for us without Jesus. Even for God to hear us we have to go to him in Jesus' name. *Whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you - John 16:23.
Know this, if you dishonour your father, you'll forfeit the benefits, you will then achieve based on merits.
God bless you.
With the God I serve, nothing shall be impossible.
Your case is not bigger than God.
May you have a God filled day in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Your Victory is already guaranteed
It is well, do not give up, with God all things are possible
