TEXT 2 CHRONICLES 16:7-9
TOPIC : THE CREATIVE FORCE OF TRUST
[7]And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand.
[8]Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? yet, because thou didst rely on the LORD, he delivered them into thine hand.
[9]For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
Dearly beloved, the story of king Asa is a deep one, it is one story that we need to seriously reflect on.
King Asa started well by trusting God and doing what is right before the Lord and he was helped massively by God.
God helped him to subdue all his enemies.
One particular incident was when he was attacked by one of the strongest nations of his time, the Ethiopians.
He went to God and rendered what I would consider as one of the greatest prayers in the bible. This prayer is found in the book of 2 Chronicles 14:11-12,
"And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.
So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled."
When king Asa had become very great and wealthy, he began to trust in his wealth and connections.
So much wealth made King Asa canal and he could nolonger trust the Lord.
King Asa was attacked by Baasha, king of Judah.
He quickly ran to Benhadad king of Syria for help and would not ask the Lord his God.
King Benhadad came and helped him, he sought for the arm of flesh and he won the battle against his enemies.
Whenever your victory came by the arm of flesh, bear in mind that the victory is a temporal one.
Sometimes, we seek help from the hands of those who God had destined to serve us.
In the 2 Chronicles 16:7, Hanani the seer paid him a visit he never forgot.
"And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand."
Are you one of those who are losing what they should be controlling because of fear and unbelief?
Our God is truly a living spirit.
God bless you.
With the God I serve, nothing shall be impossible.
Your case is not
bigger than God.
May you have a God filled day in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Your Victory is already guaranteed
It is well, do not give up, with God all things are possible
