TOPIC : THE FORCE OF A DETERMINED HUMAN SPIRIT
TEXT GENESIS 27:37-40
And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?
And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept.
And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above;
And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.
Beloved, whenever I read this portion of the Bible, I begin to reconstruct the events over and over again.
A family was totally destroyed with one swipe of a bad decision.
When I was a child, I wept several times over what happened to Esau.
The conspiracy was horrifying and the
rejection he faced was devastating.
He thought his father would have kept at least one blessing for him, but his father told him that there was none remaining.
What many consider a blessing was actually an advice.
Isaac told him that if he would fight without giving up, that the day of his freedom was in view.
Esau took the advice, years later when they met, Jacob has some gifts for him.
He told Jacob to keep his peace offering that he had more than enough.
One person had the blessing, while the other had no blessing but a rugged and a determined human spirit, yet he prevailed in life.
Even if you inherited a generational curse, if you refuse to give up, those evil spirits will back off.
God bless you.
