TOPIC : ITS TIME FOR A NEW BEGINNING
TEXT HEBREW 12:1,3,15-17
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.
Dearly beloved, the Lord warns us about sins and loads that weigh us down.
He wants us to lay them down so we can effectively run the race that is set before us.
If there is anything that can hinder our expected end in this year 2023, it is sin.
Sin undermines and limits us.
It weakens us and keeps elongating the journey to our promised land.
The great hall of faith in Hebrews 11 were populated by people who were not perfect but who made efforts when they discovered the price that was set for them.
Noah was a drunk, Abraham was a liar, Samson was a man of negetive passion, Rahab was a prostitute, David was an adulterer and a murderer but they all progressed toward the finishing line of christ-likeness.
These champions of yesterday testify to us today. They are called just men made perfect. Noah is telling every drunk that you can stop, Abraham reminds all liars that you can quit. Rahab informs you that you can break the chains of fornication and prostitution.
Gideon testifies that you can face your fears.
David beckons that you can overcome the worst weaknesses of a human being.
This year, you must begin early to make genuine efforts to live a life that is devoid of sin.
Consecrate your life as a temple of God.
Be deliberate about this.
God bless you.
With the God I serve, nothing shall be impossible.
Your case is not bigger than God.
May you have a God filled day in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
