TEXT :1 SAMUEL 28:5-8
CAN YOU TALK TO GOD IN YOUR MESS?
" And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled.
And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.
And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee."
King Saul disobeyed God and God sent a message through prophet Samuel that He had rejected him.
This was happening at the time of war.
Israel was facing the ferocious philistine army, King Saul being overwhelmed with fear, began to look for alternatives to the God of Israel.
How many times have decided in your heart to seek for alternatives outside of God?
We often do this when we think that God is not answering or that God has rejected us.
Often it may be that our sin and guilt consciousness has stopped us from hearing from God.
King David was also by God rejected after he killed Uriah and took his wife Bartsheba.
The difference between the two men was that while Saul had other options, David would return to God and ask Him to punish him rather than letting him end in the hands of his enemies.
Saw ended in the hands of his enemies.
David got a second and a third chance.
He even got more than a third chance and ended up by God establishing his posterity over Israel forever.
How do you hand your mess?
Whenever you are in a mess, remember never to be far away from God.
You have no chance with the devil, stick to God.
